Day 2 - Basel
Welcome to Basel, once a key trading and transport hub along the Rhine. Today, it’s best loved for its charming architecture and treasure trove of art museums housed among its winding streets. You might like to join us on an optional excursion to explore Mt Rigi, where sprawling greenery, forests and meadows make picture-book perfect views. In the city itself, perhaps wander the lofty and beautiful streets of Alstadt on the Rhine’s south bank or Kleinbasel for alfresco dining and people-watching.
Day 3 - Breisach
We arrive in the fairytale town of Breisach this morning, on the edge of the Black Forest. Spend the day exploring the cobbled streets, hilltop cathedral and sprawling vineyards. Or perhaps join us on an optional excursion into the depths of the Black Forest, where we’ll enjoy a cruise on Lake Titisee and free time to wander at leisure.
Day 4 - Strasbourg
Float along the canals of Strasbourg this morning as you discover the best of the city on our guided tour. The UNESCO-listed old quarter is a web of cobbled streets and colourful half-timbered houses. The spectacular 15th century cathedral is truly a sight to see, with its lofty spire, Gothic façade and stunning stained-glass windows. Enjoy Strasbourg at your leisure for the remainder of the day.
Day 5 - Speyer
Join us for an optional walking tour of Speyer this morning, or explore at your own pace. The city’s red-brick Romanesque cathedral is its crowning glory, dating back around 1,000 years. Other sights to tick off include the ruins of a 12th century Jewish synagogue and the Old Mint, with its beautiful baroque façade. In the afternoon, we continue sailing downstream towards Rüdesheim.
Day 6 - Rüdesheim - Lorelei Passage - Koblenz
There may be some time early this morning for a quick wander around the lovely riverside town of Rüdesheim, with an old quarter full of half-timbered buildings, before setting sail mid-morning through the spectacular scenery of the Lorelei Passage. Setting foot in Koblenz this afternoon, enjoy a city tour followed by the 19th century Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.
Day 7 - Königswinter - Cologne
Rise and shine early this morning for a tour of the castle-like villa of Schloss Drachenburg. This 19th century home is set on a hill overlooking the Rhine and was built for a baron who never actually moved in. Spend some time admiring the tapestries, murals and spires, before we set sail this afternoon for the Gothic masterpiece that is Cologne.
Day 8 - Cologne
We waste no time in exploring one of Germany’s most glorious cities, with a morning walking tour. You’ll then then have the rest of the day to explore for yourself. Filled with Gothic, medieval and Roman architecture, there’s a picture-worthy moment at every turn. But the city’s most impressive attribute? The spectacular spired cathedral which we’ll see in detail as part of our tour. This masterpiece took centuries to complete and was built with the intention to house the mortal remains of the scriptural Three Kings
Day 9 - Arnhem
Famed as the site of a major WWII battle, the Dutch city of Arnhem has a wartime history all of its own. Perhaps opt to discover more with an excursion to the war museum, where photos, films and documents tell the story of the Battle of Arnhem and Operation Market Garden. Or spend the day wandering the city streets or woodlands and fields of Sonsbeek Park.
Day 10 - Amsterdam
Crooked waterside houses, Golden Age architecture and winding canals. There’s no doubt Amsterdam is a city with its very own flavour. Explore the highlights first thing with our guided city tour, then float under pretty bridges and past gabled houses on a canal cruise. The rest of the day is yours to explore. Perhaps visit the world-class collections in the Rijksmuseum or step inside the Museum Our Lord in the Attic, a townhouse that hides a secret 17th century church in its attic.
Day 11 - Amsterdam to UK
After breakfast we disembark and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
