Coronavirus Update

General Information for Travellers

Global River Cruising is committed to providing the very best advice and support to our clients, whether this relates to existing holiday bookings or new enquiries.  We understand that following the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) customers may be concerned about potential impacts on travelling overseas and we would like to provide the following guidance for UK based holiday makers.

If of course you have any questions, or would like to discuss a specific issue, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We are a member of ABTA (no. P6713) and follow a strict industry Code of Conduct.  River cruise packages provide clients with specific legal rights and protections under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018.  This includes financial protection; with flight inclusive packages protected under the ATOL scheme, and no-fly packages via an ABTA bond.

What happens if I have booked/book a river cruise and my holiday is cancelled?

Tour operators follow travel advice provided by the UK Government, and other relevant authorities, as to whether it is safe to operate their itineraries.  If the advice impacts any of the tour operators’ planned itineraries they are required to amend or cancel these.

In the event of cancellation of your holiday, or where a significant change is necessary, we will contact you to discuss the options available to you.  Please see ABTA’s General Advice for Travellers for more information.

Can I still choose not to travel if I book now?

If there is no adverse advice from the FCO then your holiday will operate as planned.  If you then took the decision not to travel then the individual tour operator’s cancellation terms would apply.  However, at the current time, a number of our tour operator partners are offering temporary relaxation of these terms to provide guests with greater flexibility and reassurance.

River Cruise operators have also implemented a number of additional controls and guidelines to ensure the safety of guests on board.  More details may be found under the specific operator links below.
