Day 1: Amsterdam

Embark in Amsterdam this afternoon. Settle into your cabin, explore the onboard amenities and enjoy a Welcome Cocktail before your Welcome Dinner tonight. The ship remains moored in Amsterdam overnight.

Day 2: Amsterdam & Nijmagen

This morning you can enjoy a memorable optional tour of Amsterdam, including a cruise on the city's famous canals. See the old merchants' houses and learn about the history of this old trading port. The ship sails from Amsterdam at midday and cruises south along the Amsterdam Rijnkanaal, through the flat polder landscape of Southern Holland to the old Hanseatic city of Nijmegen. This evening there is a typical Dutch folklore show on board and the ship departs from Nijmegen in the early hours.

Day 3: Cologne

Enjoy a leisurely morning cruise en route to Cologne, docking in the early afternoon. You may wish to join an optional walk through the Old Town to the impressive gothic cathedral that dominates the skyline. Depart from Cologne in the evening and continue south along the Rhine.

Day 4: Koblenz & Rüdesheim

Today's first port of call is Koblenz, strategically located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. An optional morning walking tour takes in the main highlights of the city. From Koblenz, take a memorable cruise south through the Rhine Gorge to see the ruins of numerous hilltop castles and the famous Loreley. Arrive at Rüdesheim in the afternoon and join an optional tour of the town, including a visit to Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum.

Day 5: Miltenberg & Wertheim

You will arrive at Miltenberg around lunchtime today. An optional walking tour takes you along the narrow, cobbled streets with their gabled, half-timbered houses. Your tour continues from Miltenberg to neighbouring Wertheim where you can enjoy a walking tour of this charming town, situated at the confluence of the Main and Tauber rivers. Re-board the ship in Wertheim in time for dinner on board.

Day 6: Würzburg

You reach the historic city of Würzburg this morning where you can join an optional walking tour, including a visit to the Residenz, the beautiful Baroque palace built for the prince-bishops by local architect Balthasar Neumann between 1720 and 1744. This afternoon you may decide to join a second excursion to Rothenburg, famous for its well-preserved medieval Old Town. The ship sails departs Würzburg before dinner.

Day 7: Bamberg

After a relaxing morning cruise, the ship docks in Bamberg in the early afternoon. Bamberg is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Germany and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with some 2,300 buildings of historic interest. An optional guided walking tour of the old city is highly recommended. As you depart from Bamberg, enjoy an onboard lecture on the history of the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal.

Day 8: Nuremberg

You arrive in Nuremberg early in the morning. Today's optional city tour introduces you to the 900-year-old ramparts, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace, where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946. In the afternoon you can join an optional excursion to Nuremberg World War II Documentation Centre.

Day 9: Kelheim & Regensburg

This morning takes you through the final stretch of the fascinating Main-Danube Canal to Kehlheim where you may disembark for an optional excursion to Weltenburg Monastery. The monastery, founded by Irish or Scottish monks around 620 AD, is the oldest in Bavaria. Meanwhile the ship sails towards Regensburg, where you can re-board at lunch time. Regensburg is one of Germany's best preserved medieval cities and this afternoon's optional sightseeing tour will introduce you to the city's architectural highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Pretoria. In the evening there will be a rousing Bavarian evening on board.

Day 10: Passau & Linz

Arrive into Passau this morning, where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube, and enjoy an optional walking tour of the ancient city centre. During the tour, your knowledgeable guide will point out many buildings that bear witness to Passau's historical importance as the Three River City. Alternatively you can join an optional excursion to Salzburg and the scenic Salzkammergut lakes and mountains region, starting in Passau and ending in Linz. The ship will make her way to Linz where you can participate in an optional city walk before dinner.

Day 11: Melk & Vienna

The ship arrives into Melk early today and from here you can take an optional tour of the scenic Wachau region, incorporating a visit to the impressive Benedictine Abbey at Melk and a wine tasting session. Return to the ship in time for lunch and set sail for the Austrian capital, Vienna. Upon arrival here you may choose to join an optional Vienna by Night tour.

Day 12: Vienna

Wake in Vienna this morning and choose from a variety of optional excursions. You may opt for a morning city tour, showcasing the main architectural highlights such as the Ringstrasse, Hofburg Palace and St Stephen's Cathedral. In the afternoon you may wish to visit Schoenbrunn Palace or simply spend the afternoon exploring independently. This evening you can choose to attend an optional classical concert performed by a Viennese orchestra.

Day 13: Vienna & Bratislava

The ship leaves Vienna in the early hours and cruises towards the Slovakian capital, Bratislava, where you disembark for an optional tour of the historic city centre. This afternoon's optional excursion brings you to the Imperial Festival Palace, Castle Hof, a magnificent Baroque complex, built in the early 18th Century. Return to the ship and prepare for the Captain's Gala Dinner, followed by a show performed by the crew.

Day 14: Budapest

Arrive into the Hungarian capital, Budapest, this morning. Join an optional sightseeing tour which leads you to historic Buda Castle for a splendid view of the twin cities of Buda and Pest, spread over both banks of the river. Your tour also takes you to the 500-year-old Matthias Church, St. Stephen's Basilica, the Fishermen's Bastion and the Royal Palace. This afternoon choose from two optional excursions: Take a trip out to the Gödöllö Palace, then see a display of the horsemanship for which the Puszta region is famous. Alternatively, join a tour to the small artists' settlement of Szentendre, in the picturesque Danube Bend region. This evening enjoy a scenic evening cruise along the Danube, Budapest by Night, with a Hungarian folklore group to entertain you.

Later, relax in the lounge and enjoy a gentle evening cruise, Budapest by Night, with a traditional folklore programme to entertain you.

You may choose from two optional excursions in Budapest today. The first is a city tour, taking in the main highlights of this enchanting capital. See the Fisherman's Bastion, Matthias Church, St Stephen's Cathedral and enjoy the fine views from Buda Castle. The second choice is an excursion to the artists' settlement of Szentendre, located in the scenic Danube Bend region. Alternatively, spend the day at leisure, before setting sail during the afternoon.

Day 3: Bratislava & Vienna

Arriving in Bratislava early this morning there is an optional city tour which you may wish to join. The ship sets sail at lunch time, leaving Slovakia behind and heading towards the Austrian capital, Vienna. Upon arrival here you may choose to join the optional Vienna by Night excursion, for a unique, after dark perspective.

Day 4: Vienna

Wake in Vienna this morning and choose from a variety of optional excursions. You may opt for a morning city tour, showcasing all the main attractions. Later today you can visit Schoenbrunn Palace or spend the afternoon exploring independently. This evening you may attend an optional concert by a Viennese Orchestra. Otherwise, spend your evening at leisure, exploring this grand city. The ship departs from Vienna in the early hours.

Day 5: Vienna & Melk

The ship arrives in Melk at around noon today and there is an optional afternoon tour of the Wachau region, incorporating a visit to the impressive Benedictine Abbey at Melk and a wine tasting session. Depart from the Wachau in the evening and continue your journey west along the Danube.

Day 6: Linz & Passau

You will arrive in Linz early this morning, ready for an optional city walking tour. You may also choose to join an alternative excursion to Salzburg and the lakes and mountains region of the Salzkammergut, departing from Linz and re-joining the ship later in Passau. In Passau you can opt to join a walking tour of the city, returning to the ship in time for the Captain's Gala Dinner, complete with a show performed by the crew.

Day 7: Regensbug & Kelheim

Sailing overnight, the ship reaches Regensburg this morning and you may disembark for an optional walking tour of the city. Set sail for Kehlheim at lunchtime and enjoy a pleasant afternoon cruise before arriving here in the early evening. Alternatively, join an optional tour to Weltenburg Monastery which departs from Regensburg and returns you back to the ship in Kehlheim in the late afternoon.

This morning brings you to the pretty riverside town of Rüdesheim, where you can join an optional walking tour and visit to Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Then, continue your journey through one of the most scenic streches of the Rhine, the Middle Rhine Gorge. See the ruins of numerous hilltop castles and learn about the legends of the famous Loreley rock. Arrive into Koblenz in the mid-afternoon for an optional walking tour of the city which is strategically located at the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle.
