After breakfast, admire the city's beautiful centuries-old homes and picturesque churches on a guided canal boat tour. Then enjoy a panoramic city tour of Amsterdam, including a photo stop at a windmill once painted by Rembrandt, followed by free time to explore on your own. The ship departs early afternoon and cruises overnight.

Day 3: Cologne - Koblenz

This morning, arrive in Cologne for a guided walking tour through the old part of the city and a visit to its 13th-century Gothic cathedral. The ship will depart for Koblenz around lunchtime, arriving this evening. Feel free to go ashore and enjoy an evening walk with your Cruise Manager. The ship moors in Koblenz overnight.

Day 4: Rhüdesheim

Cruise through the spectacular Rhine Gorge this morning, the most beautiful stretch of the river with vineyards, castles, fortresses and picturesque hamlets lining its banks. Look for the Lorelei Rock at the narrowest part of the river, the inspiration for many German legends. After lunch, arrive in the winemaking town of Rüdesheim and take a mini train to Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum to see its incredible collection. Explore the Drosselgasse, a narrow alley lined with shops and wine taverns, as well as other sights during your free time. Or, take a Gondola Ride above the town to see the Niederwalddenkmal Statue. Late this afternoon, the ship departs for Miltenberg.

Day 5: Miltenberg - Wertheim

Arrive in Miltenberg late morning for a walking tour of this delightful old town, with its narrow cobblestone streets and steeply gabled houses. During lunch, the ship will cruise to Freudenberg. A motor coach will take you to Wertheim, where you will enjoy a walking tour to see the historic city center and have free time to explore on your own. Rejoin the ship and cruise overnight en route to Würzburg.

Day 6: Würzburg - Kitzingen

This morning, take a guided tour of Würzburg showing you all of the major sights or visit the Residenz Palace and gardens, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe's best examples of Baroque architecture. This afternoon, take an optional excursion along the Romantic Road to medieval Rothenburg. The ship arrives this evening in Kitzingen, where you may enjoy an evening walk and wine tasting at Germany's oldest wine cellar. Late tonight, the ship departs for Bamberg.

Day 7: Bamberg

Arrive this afternoon in enchanting Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. Disembark for a guided walking tour of this medieval gem and see the breathtaking cathedral, the Old Town Hall that straddles the river, the city's serpentine streets, and elegant 18th-century mansions. Sample some of Bamberg's famous smoked beer before continuing your cruise this evening to Nuremberg.

Day 8: Nuremberg

This morning, take a "Medieval Nuremberg" tour and see the city's 900-year-old ramparts, towers, old city walls and the Imperial Castle. Or join the WWII tour that visits the Zeppelin field and the Justice Palace courtroom (when available) where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946. After lunch, the ship passes through the Main-Danube Canal and across Europe's Continental Divide. We will continue cruising overnight.

Day 8: Regensburg

A guided morning tour will show you the city's architectural highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Praetoria, gates to a Roman fort built in 179 AD. Alternatively, visit the Audi Factory in Ingolstadt, where a member of the Audi team will take you on a guided tour of the Audi Car Museum or Factory Floor (subject to availability). The ship departs this evening for Austria.

Day 10: Passau - Linz

After breakfast, arrive in picturesque Passau. On your guided walking tour, you will see the old city fortifications and St. Stephan's Cathedral, home to the largest pipe organ in the world. Alternatively, join an optional excursion to Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace and the setting for "The Sound of Music." Those opting for the Passau walking tour will return to the ship and enjoy a scenic journey to Linz, Austria. We arrive in Linz this evening and depart around midnight.

Day 11: Melk - Dürnstein

Cruise through the narrow Strudengau and reach the Wachau Valley early this morning. A guided tour takes you to Melk's magnificent Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe's largest Baroque monasteries. After lunch, enjoy a scenic cruise through the lovely Wachau Valley and arrive in Dürnstein mid-afternoon. There, you will see the blue facade of the Baroque Stiftskirche and the castle ruins where Richard the Lionhearted was once imprisoned, high above the town. You will also enjoy a wine tasting of several different wines. The ship moors in Dürnstein until the early hours of the morning.

The ship docks in Vienna this morning. Savour the sights of romantic Vienna during your guided tour today, which includes such sights as the Opera House, the Ringstrasse, and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Day 5: Dürnstein - Melk

Reach the Wachau Valley early this morning. Stop in Durnstein, a charming town with a magnificent blue Stiftskirche, and take a walking tour down medieval cobblestone streets past 16th-century town houses and wine taverns. High above the town, you will see the ruins of a castle where Richard the Lionhearted was once imprisoned. You will also enjoy a wine tasting of several different wines. After lunch, the ship will cruise to Melk for a guided tour of the town's Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe's largest baroque monasteries and the inspiration for the novel The Name of the Rose.

Day 6: Linz - Passau

This morning the ship arrives in Linz, where you will have a choice of two different excursions. The first choice is an optional excursion to Salzburg, where you will take a walking tour of the historic center, famous as the setting for "The Sound of Music" and as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The tour also includes a visit to the Mirabell Gardens, Salzburg Cathedral, Mozart's Square, and much more. The alternative is to remain on the ship as it cruises through scenic Upper Austria to Passau, a 2,000-year-old city noted for its Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture. A late afternoon walking tour of Passau will take you along the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, where you will see the old city fortifications and St. Stephan's Cathedral, home to the largest pipe organ in the world.

This morning, enter the Main-Danube Canal and relax during a leisurely cruise through the beautiful Altmühl Valley. The Main-Danube Canal traverses the Franconian Alps via 16 locks, truly a marvel of modern engineering. In the afternoon, you may opt to take a "Medieval Nuremberg" tour to see the storybook 900-year-old ramparts that surround this historic city and the Imperial Castle, or join the "WWII" tour that visits the Zeppelin field where Hitler held his Nazi rallies and the Justice Palace where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946.

Day 10: Würzburg - Kitzingen

Today take a guided tour of Würzburg showing you all of the major sights or visit the Residenz Palace and gardens, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe's best examples of Baroque architecture. You might also enjoy an optional excursion to medieval Rothenburg, a beautiful walled city situated on the Romantic Road. Your walking tour includes entrance to the Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas Museum. Your evening walking tour of Kitzngen includes the city's famous 13th-century Leaning Tower, the Old Main Bridge, Kitzingen Church, and the Renaissance-style Town Hall. Later, the Aulic Council and Wine Queen will welcome you to Germany's oldest wine cellar for a tasting of several different wines and an overview of wine production in the region.

This morning, you will have a walking tour of Wertheim, a town that has retained much of its medieval charm and character. Later, the ship leaves Bavaria and the Main River behind.
